Gravel Ground La Palma, a four-day gravel event
exploring the beautiful island of La Palma.
The route will be held almost exclusively on the island’s gravel forest tracks and will end each day in a different location. The Gravel Ground organization will move the camp each day to a new spot on the island, offering cyclists a complete sample of everything La Palma has to offer.
Participants will enjoy a unique gastronomic experience using only local food suppliers at each of their stops. After departing from Santa Cruz on the first day, cyclists will travel along the eastern, greener side of the island and climb the highest peak, El Roque de Los Muchachos. They will then cross the pine forests and vineyards of the western side, continue through the volcanic area of Cumbre Vieja, and traverse the lunar volcanic fields of the southern part of the island. They will finally end the experience back in Santa Cruz, followed by a celebration with local food, beer, and wine.
Gravel Ground La Palma is the brand’s first event with plans to expand into a global circuit. Gradant and Never Say Never, the company co-founded by Andrés Iniesta, have reached an agreement with the government of La Palma to hold this non-competitive event, which aims to celebrate and explore the intense variety of terrain, vegetation, and lush natural beauty of La Palma.
La Palma is the fifth largest and northernmost island of the Canary Islands, with the second highest peak (2,426 meters) in the entire archipelago, which cyclists will climb during this adventure. The island has a unique and diverse local fauna, completely different in each part, which will be discovered during the route.
